Our Detailing Process: Diagnose, Treat, Protect, Inspect

September 15, 2026 5 min readBy Detail Doctor

Every Detail Doctor job runs the same way, whether it is a daily-driver interior in Stone Oak or a fifth wheel at a storage yard in Boerne. Four stages, one technician, your approval at each step. Here is what actually happens.

    1. Diagnose

Before anything gets wet, we walk the vehicle with you. We are looking for the things that change the plan: pet hair worked into the carpet, a headlight that has gone yellow, paint that has oxidized, a stain that has been there long enough to set. You tell us what bothers you most. We tell you what we can fix today and what needs a different treatment. No guessing, no upsell surprise later.

    2. Treat

This is the work, and it is done surface by surface. Interiors get a full extraction, not a quick vacuum: seats, carpet, mats, and the places crumbs hide. Exteriors get a proper decontamination before any polish touches the paint, because polishing dirt just grinds it in. Headlights are sanded and refinished, not sprayed with a shine that lasts a week.

We use professional-grade products matched to the surface. We are not going to list brands and dilution ratios here, but the short version is: nothing from a gas station shelf, nothing that is not made for the material it is going on, and marine or aviation-grade products on boats and aircraft where the finish demands it.

    3. Protect

Clean is temporary. Protected lasts. Paint gets a sealant, leather gets conditioned, plastics get a UV treatment, and glass gets a water-repellent finish. Texas sun is the thing that ages a vehicle fastest, and this stage is what keeps the results from fading by next month.

    4. Inspect

Last, we walk the vehicle with you again, under our lights. If something is not right, we fix it before we leave, not after you call. You approve the result before you pay.

    One technician, one vehicle

You get the same person start to finish. That person diagnosed the problem, so they know exactly what the treatment needed to do. It is slower than a crew of three, and the result is better for it.
